Monthly Meeting and Public Program
Native Bees in the Florida Landscape

Rachel Mallinger, Assistant Professor, University of Florida
Department of Entomology and Nematology

This presentation brings us the latest on land management for native pollinators and gardening to attract and support native bees. Dr. Rachel Mallinger leads research on plant-pollinator interactions and pollinator community ecology with an emphasis on native bees. She conducts research in natural, agricultural, and urban ecosystems to inform pollinator conservation and improve pollination to crops and wild plants. She also offers courses online on gardening for pollinators and writes extensively about pollinators.

Monthly Meetings and Public Programs

Our regular monthly meetings are held at 7:00 PM on the first Monday of most months. They are notorious for intriguing topics and a great light supper. Educational programs will help you learn about native plants, both in the wild and in landscapes.

Arrive at the Hernando UF/IFAS Extension Office at 6:30 pm for a light meal and socializing. We look forward to meeting you!

Hernando members get together for field trips to learn more about Florida's native plant populations as they occur in our county's natural areas. Field trips are free and open to the public.

Join up, join in.

No matter what your interest, we have an activity for you! We welcome home gardeners, citizen scientists, hikers and bikers, advocates and all to get to know us and Florida's native plants.

Come to a monthly meeting, shop at our plant sales, show up for a field trip or volunteer on one of our Projects. We think you'll have fun!

Plant Sales

In Spring and Fall we bring the plants to the people! Add natives to your landscape and have a great time talking about plants with other enthusiasts.

Field Trips
